So after my amazing trip to Switzerland I have decided to spend a day in Genova before heading back to England.

I started my trip in Geneva and decided to finish it in Genova. The Geneva - Genova trip.
I thought it had a nice ring to it?? haha

the old town

With its pastel-coloured terracotta-roofed houses, statues and orange trees Genova is a mediterranean dream...

Cozy alleyways lead you to some stunning hidden gems:

palazzo reale

One of the prettiest places in Genova, in my opinion, is the Pallazo Reale. The ticket to visit the palace costs €4  and you get to see the Throne Room, the ballroom, the hall of mirrors and some stunning paintings from Baroque and Rococo artists.

For €1.20 you can also have a lovely caffe latte at the coffee shop downstairs.

the food

Leaving Geneva where a cheap coffee at the supermarket costs 4 swiss francs paying €1.20 the loveliest coffee in Genova felt amazing!

The food is Genova is delightful and the best part: affordable!!!
The only hard thing is to choose what and where to eat. Genova´s alleyways are filled with little coffee shops and pizza places.  I ended up choosing a slice of pizza and freshly squeezed orange juice. And all for €3.

And of course a gelato in the afternoon walking around the gorgeous alleyways of the town.

accomodation

I stayed at the Delfino Blue B&B.
60 euros for 2 nights in a massive private room.
It is 5 minutes from the train station and 20 minutes from the old town.
The owner of the B&B is a lovely italian lady. She speaks perfect english and is very helpful. You even get a lovely free breakfast in the morning.
I would just be careful if you were coming back alone in the evening as the area isn´t the safest.

Here is a picture of the room:

and so my time was up

And as I was leaving I saw this: A girl sat just outside the garden´s gate reading under that stunning light.
I think this is the best representation of Genova. A city full of hidden beauty in the most unexpected places.
